Efficiency Debate: Patterns vs. Mates for Assembly Rivets

I’m working on an assembly that includes approximately 800 rivets, and I'm currently revamping it for better stability by reducing resolution and reorganizing mates in the assembly hierarchy. From a resource management standpoint, would it be more efficient to create mates for as many rivets as possible, or is using patterns a better choice? I’d appreciate any insights on which method consumes fewer computer resources.

Thanks!
