Editing Previous Revision

Hi there,

I am hoping that some of you might be able to offer some suggestions for a workaround for the following question.

Let's say a customer buys revision A of a particular assembly.  Over the next few months, the assembly is revised and now sits at revision C.  At this point, the old customer calls me up and asks if it would be possible to make a custom gadget to fit on their assembly (revision A).  I would like to find a way to open up the revision A, make any necessary modifications and add the custom gadget, and then save this.

It would be nice if I could check out revision A (easy to do), make the edits (easy), and then check it back in as Revision A.1 (or something similar).  This way, I could keep working on the latest revision C for future customers, but also keep track of any changes to older assemblies.

Of course, Workgroup PDM does not allow applying "older" revision numbers.  Is there a way around this?

Will I have to do a "pack and go" each time I send a product to a customer so that I can make any changes as I go?

Any bright ideas?  Thanks in advance!
