My idea can be explained with the image above. On the right you can see a 1 tooth pinion, and on the left is a 24 teeth gear. Gear ratio is 24:1. It is my intention that 1 rev. of the pinion will turn the gear 1/24 rev.
Both gears in the image are taken from the Toolbox in Solidworks -- I did not create them. However, in Toolbox, the min. no. of allowable teeth for a spur gear is 10 -- my pinion needs only 1 tooth, so I hid the rest of the teeth, but this is not the correct method. And there are interference seen above. I need to cut some material along the periphery of the pinion so only its tooth is the only thing meshing the gear.
Can this be done?
My skills in Solidworks are "Beginner" and my version is 2007.
Kind regards,
Faith.
