In static simulation why cant i apply edge fillet connection?

I have an assembly of two parts that are edge welded all round. Say 20inx20inx1in aluminum plate on a 15inx15inx1in aluminum plate. In solidworks this is modelled as a standard assembly (not as a weldment).
