Hi!
I have a simple steel column that I want to evaluate for an applied uniform base excitation. I am running a modal time history analysis within solidworks simulation for this. The base excitation is applied to the footplate of the column in the form of an Acceleration vs Time function. Note that my model is a simple beam element with two joints.
I am able to visualize all the member stresses and displacements, however I am also interested in finding out the component forces at the joints caused due to the acceleration of the base. As of now, I am only able to extract reaction forces at the base as it is the only fixture in the model. I want to find the forces at the top joint due to the base acceleration too. These forces will later be used to evaluate any further steel connections.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks 🙂
