I am just starting to create prints from SolidWorks.
In the past, using a 2d cad program, I would balloon everything in order in the 2d model. I would place balloons manually so the BOM would be alpha numeric in order. Then I would enter the items in PLM in that same order.
If I had 5 parts and on page 1 I show part 1 and part 5. My BOM for that page list Item 1 and Item 5.
Then on page 2 I show part 3, the BOM for that page list Item 3.
Then on page 3 I have parts 1, 4, 5, BOM for that page list Items 1, 4, 5.
This way, when someone (assembler, part puller, field service, end user) finds the drawing for an assembly, they can immediately identify an item on the pick sheet and find it in the BOM on the drawing. Since the item number in the sheet is the same as the balloon number.
Working in SolidWorks, I do not see a way to link the assembly model BOM to the drawing BOM. If I have parts of the assembly on page 1, the drawing BOM starts with 1 and increases.
How do I synchronize the BOM structures???
Assembly BOM numbering sequence
Drawing BOM numbering sequence
