Drawing to CAM program to CNC machine

I am trying to  learn the procedure of manufacturing mostly simple products with CNC machine from Solidworks.  As of now, we have used AutoCAD but I move much faster in 3D with Solidworks like most others, lol.  In AutoCAD everything had to be in 2D to send to CAM program that sends to CNC machine.  I am trying to figure out the process in SW.  If you make a drawing and import 2D views (front, top, right, etc) is that enough to send to these CAM programs.  Or do you need to flatten or that kind of practice?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
