Hello all,
I have been using 2013 on my desktop workstation with no problem. Just upgraded it on my laptop and went to work on a part drawing, and had some serious issues.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Even with the simplest 2D drawings in 2013, the mouse click & drag movements are so laggy that it’s almost unusable. It takes forever just to add a dimension or a projected view. This is with a part that has only 3 features – rectangular extrude, rounded corners, and one hole.
In contrast, with much more complex drawings in 2012 on the same laptop, performance is quick & snappy.
3D modeling performance (sketch, extrude, rotate, etc.) doesn’t seem any different from SW2012.
This is not the end of the world, since I have a high-end workstation in the office, but if I can find a fix (other than a new laptop!), it would be a real help.
I realize this machine doesn’t have a supported video card and thus there is no guarantee of good performance, but there is such a huge difference between 2012 and 2013 that I’m wondering if there is a setting in 2013 that I don’t know about. Unfortunately I have one project that requires 2013, can’t just stick with 2012.
I confirmed that SolidWorks is not set to use software OpenGL, and have tried a few different display settings within SW and within Windows with no luck.
In general, this 2-yr old laptop has had surprisingly good performance with both SolidWorks and Pro/E :
Sony Vaio, Z-series
Win 7 Pro 64-bit
Core i5 460M (2.53 GHz)
SSD HDD
4GB RAM
GeForce GT330M
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
