Not sure if this is the right place for this post, sorry if it is.

Simple question:  When I left click with the mouse, hold, and drag to the left, I create a green box with a dashed outline.  If I click, hold, and drag right, I get a blue box with a solid border.

What are the differences between these 2 selection methods, if any?
