It seems I can never get display states to work the way I want. For example, I have a part to which I'd like to apply a certain color on only one face. I have two configurations of this part, and would like the display state with the color applied to the single face to appear in only one of the configurations. I've made two display states: one to be used with the first configuration (no color applied to the face in question) and one to be used with the second configuration (color applied to the face in question). However, when I apply a color to this face in the second display state, it shows up in the first display state, as well. Do display states not behave as configurations do, being active in one but not in another? How can I use display states to accomplish what I'm trying to do?
Are display states fickle black magic for anyone else? Or do I just not understand how to use them well?
