Dimstyle Save Oddity 2023

I'm trying to create various preset dimension styles to add to our drawing templates.

But I've come across an oddity that sure feels like a bug.

I'll preface this to say I cannot figure out a way for the diameter symbol to automatically appear in both sketch and drawing linear dimensions.  I can get the correct doubled dimension when selecting a centerline and a sketch line for a revolve (cylindrical parts being a huge part of our business), but I have to manually add the diameter symbol as it is never added automatically.  I swear it used to do this in 2017 but maybe I'm wrong.  Our custom standard is based on ANSI inch but modified.

Anyway, because of that lack of automatic diameter recognition in dimensions, I was setting up some dimension styles with the diameter symbol to apply where needed.  My first try used the native diameter symbol and saved the style.

But if I then changed to a different style with a dimension selected, it would change to the new style BUT KEEP THE in the Dimension Text field even when the new selected style did NOT have that symbol included.  Once it's in that field, it stays there until manually deleted.

So, I've switched to using ALT+0216 for Ø instead and it seems to behave when changing dimensions styles, though I suspect it will be visually different than the native diameter symbol.

I suppose it is 'feature not bug', but in this use case, it isn't really helping.
