Dimensioning a hole pattern with "x" number of instances

I am dimensioning a series of holes, that is made from a linear pattern, that is using an equation to drive the "instances" valve.  I never know exactly how many holes there will be but I need to dimension them all.  Is there a way to tell SW to automatic dimension a variable hole pattern?  I would like to using ordinate dimensions.  Creative answers welcomed!

The only way I thought about doing this is placing my zero and then dimension to the first hole.  Then give a hole spacing dimension and note that the series will hold this dimension.  Then on the hole callout give a quantity.  Does this seem acceptable?

Thanks
