Difference between file conversion using Task Scheduler & Normal Save from SolidWorks?

Hello All,

Our company moved to SW 2017 from SW 2014 recently and we are in a process to migrate the files to the latest version.
For batch conversion, we are using task scheduler to convert the files.

Is there a difference in using the 'covert tool' from Task scheduler and the normal save operation from SolidWorks?
Do we have to always use task scheduler, even when the volume of files are less?
