Design Table versus Configure Feature versus Specify Configuration

Hi All,

I'm looking for some insight into the use of Design Tables, Configure Feature, and Specify Configuration methods for controlling a part model and am hoping that you can help me out.

  1. Did you know SolidWorks offers Design Tables, Configure Feature, or Specify Configuration?  (see images at bottom for locations of these functions)
  2. Do you use Design Tables, Configure Feature, Specify Configuration, All three, or None?
  3. If you use more than one method; Can you break it down by approximate percentages?
  4. If don't use any of the methods; Why not?
  5. If you use any of the methods; Why do you use one instead of the other?
  6. If you use all three, when and why do you use one instead of the other?
  7. What are the limitations of the method(s) you use?
  8. What should we do to improve the method(s) you use?
  9. What Excel functions (if-then, lookup, concatenate, etc) do you use in your Design Tables?

Thanks for your input,

Jody
