Deleting Components from Subassemblies

A new "enhancement" in 2013 is that in an assembly, when you select a component of a subassembly in the graphics window or in the tree it only deletes the component and not the entire subassembly like it did in previous versions. I'm looking for opinions on this.... it seems to me that this is not the greatest enhancement since I can't imagine a situation where I would want to delete a component from an assembly that I was not currently editing. It takes extra time to go to the tree or select the entire sub-assembly from the right click menu. Also when I create an assembly the parts and subassemblies are read only files so when I go to save the assembly it's going to throw an error because I have modified a read only file. Currently there is no option to turn this off ! I am currently at the on-site beta in Madison and we would like to get some thoughts and opinions on this functionality. Thanks!!
