Decision - What to Do with Books That Do Not Change Year to Year

Your votes and comments have clearly indicated that you want us to remove the version everywhere: the headers, the title page, and the cover.

To find the version, you would have to look at the back cover of the book or the bottom of the legal page where we write the book code, PMT16xx-xxx, for the 2016 books.

Taking this one step further, we are not going to change a thing, not even the cover image or the legal page. Once we make a book "version neutral", we won't touch it at all if the content of the book is not updated in that release. The Training team will make a clear announcement to the VARs about which titles are not going to change release to release and you can all continue to use your current stock of books with the previous year's covers.

There isn't going to be a perfect rollout of this plan. Because books currently include the version, it will take a release or two to phase this out. We aren't going to redo every book that is currently at DS Graphics to strip out the version information. For example, we are not going to touch the SOLIDWORKS 2015 versions of MBD, Inspection, Plastics, and Routing:Electrical. You should continue to use your SOLIDWORKS 2015 stock for these books.

Starting with the SOLIDWORKS 2017 release, we will make ALL books "version neutral", whether the book's contents change or not.
