Hello,
I'm working in a small company with 2 engineers (SW standard licences). I joined about a year ago. Before me it was only one engineer. So far he's been working ON the server only. In order to not mess up the files and references i kept it that way in my own workflow. I know this is a bad idea and i dont like it, so i'm trying to figure out how to do this better.
As far as I understand the safest way to work would be on my local machine by using Pack&Go.
But the issue I have is that we have parts that are being used in several assemblies.
E.g. I have assembly A with parts 1 and 2 and assembly B with parts 1 and 3.
I pack&go assembly A (and with it parts 1 and 2), work on it and probably change part 1. How do I transfer this back onto the server, while updating the old part 1 and keeping the reference of part 1 with assembly 2?
So how do I deal with those parts, after i modified them on my local machine and want to put them back on the server? I would have to replace the original part by hand, which is erroneous and a lot of work and not really practical.
Is there any way to deal with this or is PDM the only option?
Thank you very much for your input!
