I've been learning solidworks for over two years now and I've hit a problem I just can't work out how to solve. Ive been trying to model a pandora charm (purely because they're pretty complicated) and Im a bit stuck. I'm not sure if I'm taking the right approach either. I've attached a photo of what I'm trying to model.

So far I have created a surface that defines the outside of the shape, my plan was then to cut away the surface leaving only the desired pattern but it is near impossible to sketch on a surface with any accuracy. I've also attached a copy of my solidworks part showing you how far I have managed to get.

Any help would be great!
