New to the forum but have an easy question. I have seen many posts on detail and crop views where people want to vary the cut boundary. SW uses a standard circle to make detail views, it looks crazy to me, I know I can make a shape but it adds a little extra work. Getting lazy with CAD.
My question: I'm from the old scholol where a broken edge was represented as a wavy line or something not uniform and extened beyond the real edge to identify it as a broken edge. Are these simple circular detail views an acceptable practice on drawings. I don't mind making a wavy profile or something to change the cut edge but am having a debate on what is acceptable now days. Whats is the acceptable format for the cut edge in a detail or crop view. It it's OK I can accept it, maybe, and it's easy. Also whats the best standard dealing with drafting format. We have ASME Y14.5 but it doesn't seal with this type of stuff.
Thanks
Bill
