Custom Properties - Assembly/Part Interface in Design Tables

Hello!

I am having a difficult time getting Custom Properties to function how I want in a design table for an assembly.  I have an assembly of two parts, Part A and Part B.  Part A has six configurations and Part B has two configurations.  I created a design table to create twelve assembly configurations, for every combination of configurations.

I then want to create an extruded cut on Part B that displays text indicating which of the twelve configurations.  For example, with the first configuration of Part A and the first of Part B, I want the text to read "Mold 1-A"; with the third configuration of Part A and the second figuration of part B, I want the text to read "Mold 3-B", and so on.  I have successfully created a custom property in the Part B document that reads "-A" in the first configuration and "-B" in the second configuration, and can create an extruded cut that displays the proper letter based on the configuration.

My problem, however, lies with creating the text on Part B that reflects the configuration of Part A.  I have spent a good amount of time with SolidWorks help and cannot figure out the proper way to configure the Custom Property to display the text I want.  My gut feeling is that I would need to create a custom property in the assembly document that has the text I want, and then create an extruded cut with a reference to the main document with the text linked to this property; however, nothing I have tried has worked so far.

Any advice on things to try or proper ways to format a design table or work with custom properties would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much!

Alex
