Is there any way to automatically create an e-drawing when checking in a part/assembly or drawing?

We would like to be able to have e-drawings for all of our models, so that the production floor could open them up to answer their own questions regarding dimensions/etc that we may miss when creating our drawings.  Has anyone else done this?  Have a good reliable method for making sure the latest revisions are available?
