When I first came on and began acting as the EPDM Admin, there was already a workflow created and being used.  After implementing a new ECO process about a half a year ago, I've now come up with a list of issues with our current process as well as the way(s) we could fix these issues.  One of the fixes being editing the workflow.  Many of the current statuses used would no longer exist in my new proposed workflow.  Which would mean if we just updated the current workflow, we would have to make sure all parts were in one of the common statuses.  Plus we'd have all of the extra statuses just lingering around since they wouldn't be able to be deleted.  Since I really only do the EPDM admin stuff in my extra time, I'm kind of learning as I go.  And while browsing through the forums, I learned you can create links from one workflow to another.  So this got me thinking, if I created an entirely new workflow and just made a link, we wouldn't need to check all the statuses of the existing files.  BUT I'm new to this.  It sounds promising.  And hopefully easy enough.  But am I missing something?  I'll attach our current workflow as well as my rough draft of the new workflow I'd like to use.  Is using a workflow link the way to go with this?

In the new workflow we would use automatic transitions to transfer the files to one common "in design" status.  The main reason being is currently when a change is made and we have new parts, no rev changes, and rev changes all on the same ECO; we'd have 6 different notification e-mails as well as 3 different status changes to make. The new workflow would simplify this so there would only be one e-mail and one status change per ECO.  It's kind of a no brainer change.

Anyways, let me know what you think.  I'd love to have some feedback on the easiest way to implement this.  Thank you!
