I am looking to list and count up the sub assemblies in an overall assembly for a BOM. The Solidworks options are either an indented BOM or a parts only BOM. If I want to know the quantities of a particular sub assembly, e.g. a pneumatic cylinder, I need to use the indented BOM and carry out a filter and sort in Excel to determine how many (sub assemblies) cylinders are there. Instead if this cylinder was just a part, it would come up straight away in a parts only BOM. Is there anyone who has a good work around.
