I work at a cabinet manufacturer and we are trying to replaceour archaic cabinet drafting software with SolidWorks. I'm havingtrouble getting some of the same functionality from SW that is inthe old program. Specifically, there is a unique identificationnumber per cabinet box, which dynamically changes as boxes areadded and removed. I'm having a lot of trouble finding some way todo this in SW without learning to program macros. Not that I can't,I just don't want to...
So the first part of my question would be this: Is there a way toset a custom property (or global variable) for each instance of asub-assembly from the top-level assembly, and have those update asother sub-assemblies are added and deleted? Duplicate numbers foridentical configurations would be acceptable.
The second part is, is there a way to then record in each part theIDs of the sub-assemblies that it's associated with? I was thinkingthat Excel's concatenate function would come into play on thisone...
Thanks for any help.
