I design and manufacture outdoor shelters and various other play equipment, so use timber posts all the time. It's normal to dimension them centre to centre, so you can set them out.
I've been using the 'point' in Sketch, when creating the drawings, but i'm getting overdefined pop-ups. I also use construction lines to act as the ground level, but when I dimension of the centreline to the posts, it comes up with over defined pop ups again.
I know that I'm putting fully defined sketch components into a drawing and then dimensioning them, which is the cause of the fully defined pop-ups; but I'm keen to find out what the best practice is when creating setting out drawings. I don't want the points and centrelines to be fixed to the model views. I just need them to dimension off.
Appreciate the help.
