Has anyone else run into this issue and have a workaround?

I have an assembly with several dozen sub-assemblies.  I am copying one appearance (using Photoview) and pasting it onto several components within the subassemblies (still in the master assembly).  It accepts the changes and I can see the differences to verify it.  However, once I save and close it, only the master appearance part (which I copied off the appearance from) only still has the new appearance.  All the other parts have reverted back to their old appearances.

The work around is to make the changes in each of the subassemblies but that takes a while when you have close to 600-700 parts.

It doesn't make sense, because it does the action and removes it once it saves it and re-opens.
