Using SW 2011 SP05 Win7 64bit
I have a part with external references to a surface part (master model) within a skeleton assembly. I want to make a copy of this solid part and rename it at the same time with a new number. I have tried both Save As and Pack-n-Go to accomplish this. I'm not clear as to why my external reference features (surface offsets) within the copied part go out of context using either process. I have the original copied from part open as well as the assembly the references were created in. Yet I still get the question marks next to the ex ref features. The confusing part is that when I right click and "Edit in Context" it switches to the assembly I have open. If they are out of context, why does it switch to the assembly they were created in? What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
