Hi everyone,
I am a student working on a shell-and-tube heat exchanger design. I'm following a tutorial video, but I got stuck at a specific point and couldn't figure out the workflow.
My Issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joIIdbrh5RM&t=157s From the 4:00 minute mark onwards, the instructor clicks a rectangular plane (or face) and then clicks the "half-circle baffle" part. Immediately after, a new sketch appears under 'Plane2' in the feature tree.
I’m trying to understand:
- How does he automatically create that sketch on a specific plane just by clicking the face?
- Is he using "Convert Entities" to project the baffle geometry onto the new plane, or is there a faster shortcut I missed?
- In my own project, I end up with 136 separate solid bodies instead of a single merged part. How can I ensure the new sketch merges correctly with the existing geometry?
I’ve attached a screenshot of my current feature tree (which shows "Extrude-Thin" instead of a regular Boss-Extrude). Any guidance on the exact steps performed at that timestamp would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
