HI all,
I was just wondering how you resolve the issue of material compression in CAD.
Let's say that the scenario is that I design a gasket that is made from rubber. In it's natural state as a raw part, the thickness of this gasket is 3mm.
But when the gasket is actually applied to it's intended application (assembly) between two metal surfaces it may get compressed (torqued) to a thickness of 1.5mm.
This is all relevant information surely as it's compressed/uncompressed thickness in the assembly could have effects (dimensionally) on the rest of the assembly. How do you allow for this in SolidWorks?
Dave.
