I am using SW2011 with SP3.
I have reviewed several posts on this subject but can't seem to find one that answers my questions.
I have an assembly in which I would like to create an alternate configuration and/or display state and use that to colorize certain components in a contrasting hue. My purpose is to use the "colorized" version to clarify a drawing detail.
I created a new configuration and I have display states linked to configurations. I selected the various components and I assigned new colors "Applied at component level" and assigned to "Specific display state" with the configuration's display state selected.
And nothing changed....
I have reviewed the settings in the Display Manager. I can sort appearances by History or Hiearchy; in history my two new colors are shown at the bottom of the list and expanding them shows all the components I picked. In Hierachy, the new colors are listed under Components. The assembly has color applied at the assembly level. The components I am trying to re-color have color applied at the part file level.
Are some of these settings overriding the component color applied in the assembly? Am I misunderstanding how this functionality is supposed to work. Or is this a symptom of the sometimes questionable functionality of the whole appearances feature?
Thanks, Daen.
