By accident another user here found that he was able tochange a configuration name, with an assembly open referencing theconfiguration name he was changing.
Then he went back to the assembly and it told him it couldn't findthe original name and is replacing it with the new name...success
I have also tested this on my machine with the same results...withone caveat.
This only works if you change the configuration name via a slowleft dbl click on the name. It will not work if you right click theconfiguration and choose properties...it is grayed out in thatmethod.
Can someone else please attempt this on their system to confirm itis not simply a fluke?
