I recently received two .stp files which i saved as a part document and inserted into an assembly. After inserting these parts into the assembly, Solidworks stops responing when i try and open it. For the size of the files i converted, one of the files is 12,000kb and the other is 7,000kb.

Any suggestions on how to open this assembly file?
