Hello All,
I'm having a bit of a problem and I thought I'd just go ahead and ask the community.
I have a SLDASM file which contains several parts. The assembly has been something that I've been able to view and measure using eDrawingViewer for some time. I am now using Solidworks 2013 on an evaluation license. When I do open the file using SW I see the following
- The assembly is briefly visible just as the document opens and then disappears
- The components of the assembly are shown with transparent icons
- When I roll over the commonents, I see the following errror message (I'm rolling over angle bracket - 1 in this example)
- angle bracke -1 "the file for this component cannot be located"
I can then open the exact same file in eDrawingViewer and still see it, no problem.
I'd like to work with these files during my evaluation period, but many of them are included in assemblies and not provided to me as individual parts. I may be able to get the full source documents, and am seeking to do that now, however, I'm curious about the behavior.
I suppose I'd like to understand the functionality that I'm seeing, and also know if there is a way of breaking components with missing files out of an assembly and using them. The assembly clearly contains enough of the data for the sub components to permit me to view them, measure them, etc.. in eDrawingViewer.
Best Regards, and thanks for taking a moment to read this.
