I have been having this issue:

I am included in a student education 50 license email and download Solidworks through the website and everything.  I get to the install manager and put in the serial numbers of the products, but whenever I hit next it looks for the Server connection and get the glorified message of "Could not connect to the SolidWorks server to determine which products you are entitled to install." 

I need to get this running, so I can get some projects done.  Also I have already had Solidworks 2013 on this computer, so I don't know why there is a server issue now?
