Trying to move EPDM 2014 from a server 2008 to 2012 R2, same server different Hard Drives. When I try to restore the data base I get a permission denied error, what would be causing this?
Details
We have EPDM 2014, I wanted to go to 2015 but it won't install on server 2008, so I got a new HD and installed server 2012 R2. Knowing little about SQL I used the help file and backed up my databases from SQL 2008. On the new OS I installed SQL 2014 from my EPDM 2015 CD, apparently you can't restore a 2008 database to 2014. I then installed SQL 2008 from my EPDM 2014 CD but I am getting a permission denied error. I am installing as administrator and everything is pretty much identical on the sever from the 2008 OS such as the computer name and passwords.
- Steps I took
- Backed up EPDM as per Help File instructions
- Installed New HD on the server
- Removed old HD
- Installed Server 2012 R2
- Updated OS via MS update wizard
- Installed SQL 2014 off PEDM 2015
- Installed SQL 2008
- Logged into SQL management Studio
- Tried to Restore Database
- Got Permission Denied error
I am not sure what I am missing or doing wrong, for now I am back on server 2008 EPDM 2014 until I get some ideas how to fix this, this means I will be making a new copy of the Database when I attempt this again.
