We (several people in our office) are having real trouble with multibody parts.
We typically use a workflow as follows:
- We create a master model file that may have more than one body in it.
- The master is used as a starting part (Insert > Part) for child parts. We DO NOT select the "Locate part with Move/Copy feature" because we want the part to be inserted at the origin.
- Several features are added to the Feature Manager Tree
- We then delete or move (rotate) bodies in the child parts to acheive the desired characteristics. (Like a "molded" and "assembled" position of a part).
- Often, the move feature (Insert >Copy/Move) gets absorbed into the original Insert>Part feature, and the whole file gets rotated. The feature is re-ordered in the Feature Manager Tree to a location other than where it was created.
- Also, the original bodies get a yellow colour that stays in the 3D viewport even after features are changed or deleted.
- Once the move feature is deleted, the parts don't move back to their intended position.
I can't seem to add an image (the button won't bring up a window to select one). Wait, I was able to attach one.
This is a real problem for us.
