The option to have the dimension show as broken when in a broken view is available in all dimension standards.

I can not get it to work in a drawing with anything except the ANSI std. So, is this option supposed to be standards based?

If it is I would have expected the option to not be available in the standard not supported. Is this a call to my VAR?
