Block structured mesh issues!!!

Could someone tell me the problems with using a rectangular mesh in flow simulator. I am modelling the airflow around an s809 aerofoil and beleive that because my boundary cuts through alot of the cells im loosing detail around the boundary layer. Is this true and are there other issues i should be worried about----
