Hello Solid Works Community,
I am writing with a question with regard to saving an assembly as a part file.
in this case I have very large assemblies ( 1000+bodies) for which I need to extract X,Y,Z and angle coordinates for simple bodies. To do that the API I have available needs a part file with solid bodies only.
In the past, I have been able to save an assembly as a part file and then use the API to count the bodies. I am now running into a problem that solid works is splinting a single body into different surface bodies. So, a cube for example, will be split into a top face and back face, giving two sets of X,Y,Z and theta coordinates.but it does not happen consistently for every body in the file.
Does anyone have an explaining for how to curtail this? I have not seen this before, though I have performed this operation in the past many times without a problem. attached are a couple screen shots showing the body count going from 337 to 650 after saving from assembly to part.
Thank you
