Best way to bring DWG blocks into Solidworks drawings?

We're using Solidworks/Driveworks to automate our shop drawing process.  We have a library of a few hundred vertical and horizontal cut details, all very simple 2D drawings, all in DWG format.  I don't need to model or drive them at all, just show them on the drawing.  When I try to put them in the drawing, it never works out quite right.  The best method I've come up with is to place all the details in one DWG file, then open it in Solidworks: "Create new SolidWorks drawing" ===> "Convert to SolidWorks Entities."  Then I can turn layers off and on to get the details I need.  Even then though, the leaders and hatched areas from the DWGs are no longer linked to their original blocks.  Is there a better way to do this?  Thanks for the help guys!
