Balloon Branching Fail....!

During the creation of an assembly drawing I have generated a number of balloons that I wish to branch from. However, using both the ctrl+move option or the right hand mouse menu option of 'Insert new branch', it seems to fail. The branch generates, but upon placement it disappears! I found that If I hold ctrl to generate it and take my finger off ctrl before placing it, the branch works, but comes in as dangling and is fixed.....which is useless!!

Now this is related to assemblies and the branch is intended to point at 2 seperate components within the assembly. Could this be the problem?.

The branch generates perfectly if I add it to the same item within the assembly. Unfortuntely this is not always the case when a single part number covers a multiple part item. (panel mounted switches that come with fixings). Seperate balloons is an option, but its a pain in the rectum!

This certainly used to work in previous version of SW....we run 2011 64 bit on SP3.0. And problem exists on all 6 licences here....

Any suggestions?
