I would like to do the following:

1. Read in a notepad or excel file for X, Y, Z position information and create reference geometry in an assembly.
2. Insert components by file name from Notepad or Excel into the assembly

     2.a - With each component that is inserted, reference the corresponding XYZ location information and make the mates automatically

Intention is to execute a file to read in all of the information required to insert and mate parts into an assembly. The application is for placement of POGO's into test fixtures. There can be quite a few pogo's. These are cylinders that are spring actuated when a PCB board is placed on them create the electrical connection for testing.

I want to use the Gerber file information to help automate the placement.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to do this with either a Macro or API? What reference material can I use to develop this?
