Hi.
I have an assembly file where I have created assembly sketches containing geometry I need. Based on these sketches, I created parts in the assembly. These parts were then externally saved and used to create my actual model. This makes sure that I can control my model from a central part, rather than have to edit individual part files when I need to re-dimension or modify geometry.
My issue.
In one of these assembly sketches I have a specific profile that I wanted to mirror. As in, use the mirror entities within the sketch. That doesn't seem to work. I tried this just because it is convenient. But when I select the profile and activate the mirror entities command, the property manager window remains empty and I am not prompted to select a symmetry line.
Ok. Mirror doesn't work. I don't usually mirror anything out of principle (unless ofc. it's parts in an assembly and even then I prefer to find other methods). I tried to mirror here merely because it is convenient.
So my next go to is, make a circular pattern 2 instances over 360°. Property Manager remains as empty as before, but at least here I get the small pop-up window that allows me to enter the instances and span for the circular pattern. So I make the pattern and yes, I get my 'patterned' geometry alright. Without any constraints. The profile seems to be locked within itself (meaning that I cannot modify the relationships between the individual lines) but it completely ignores the 2 instances over 360°, meaning that I can freely change not only the angle between the two profiles (origin and patterned copy at 180°) but also the center of this pattern. When I pull the pattern far away from the original, it becomes clear that the pattern's center point (oddly not the the construction circle I have used for the pattern definition) is not constrained. So I re-constrain it. And still the pattern now rotates freely, forcing me to set up another constrain to lock it in place.
It is ofc not an issue doing that. But mirror should have worked. The circular pattern should have worked properly.
Have I misunderstood how this is supposed to work? I'm a bit puzzled because I have used 'mirror entities' in sketches in part files and that seemed to get me where I needed to be.
Thank you for your input.
