I would like the best way to export a large assembly as step (AP214 preferred).

Currently,

without the option 'export all components as step', it seems the software crashes.

 with the option, I can see things happening and my folder being populated but it seems the software is doing a lot of unnecessary steps.

Examples:

I have an assembly made of Step files and itself is a step file. I add one new component, and try to save as step. The software will extract all the individual step files from the assembly (it was already a step!) and then only proceed to save with the new component.

Same if I try to export only two components of the assembly into a step file containing only those components but at their assembly coordinates. The software will first extract ALL the individual step files of the assembly and only then ask me if the final assembly should contain only the two components.

The final STEP is seemingly corrupted. I can find the component I want, but the SW also added some copies of sub components at the origin, in different orientations. Very Strange. It also sometimes make SW crash when trying to open it.

Is that final STEP supposed to be so light? Does it only reference the subcomponents exported step files in the same folder, instead of aggregating them inside the same file?
