assembly animation. Is motion analysis the correct method?

So one of our service reps has asked me to create an animation of assembling our chain and gear drives in our feeder/mixers. I have worked with limit mates and defining the motion of doors and cylinders and the like but have never worked with a request like this. I have an exploded view of the assembly to work with but when I run the animate explode it is a flash and it is done, 76 steps in 3.4 seconds. Not much help for them. I opened the Motion Analysis tutorials and started them but that doesn't seem like what I am looking for.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to to proceed with this? The next question will naturally be, Once I get an acceptable animation, how do I save it so someone with SW can run it?

Thanks
