Attached is a piece from a sculpture I am modeling in Solidworks. The sculpture will be made from weathering steel sheet. The modeling is all pretty much said and done, however I don't seem to know how to flatten this part (which is part of a circular pattern). The reason I cannoty flatten it is because there are no planar faces to use as a fixed face. So, how do you take such a part (which is modeled the way it needs to be) and flatten it to produce a flat pattern for laser cutting?
