Any suggestions on how to model water coming out of a faucet for rendering?

I actually have two situations I have tried to model. One is water coming out of an 8" long metal slit x .250 wide. It should come out intially as an 8" wide arc of water (.25 thick) extending about 6 feet across as it comes into contact with the surface of a pool. I tried making the solid body and then cutting it up with two sets of slots perpendicular to each other, but it looks real fake in Photoview.

The other situation is water coming straight down out of a faucet into a sink.

Trying to make a very realistic rendering in Photoview. I searched the forums but didn't find anything.

I use SW2011.

Thanks for any suggestions.
