I currently use SW 2010, but I am now doing some contract work for a company that requires I use SW2008 on their company laptop (specs: Lenovo W510, i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, Win 7 64-bit). I found out that IT install 32-bit version of SW2008 using XP virtual mode, and it ran very sloooowly. The other contractor is using SW2008 (SP5.0) on a Win 7 workstation without problem.

So, I talked IT into giving me Admin rights to install SW2008. The DVD is SP.0.0, but I figure I can use the SW installtion manager to update to SP 5.0. I have requested the user name & password associated with this license for the SolidWorks customer portal to download the latest SP if necessary. I know that SW2008 is not supported on Win 7 officially, but I need this to work. What is your experience / suggestions installing SW2008 on Win 7? I found this previous discussion:
