I've worked at five companies where I was the admin for SW. At every company, we excluded the SW part, assy and dwg files from AntiVirus Real Time Protection in the several Antivirus programs/suites we used. The theory was that the AV software would not have to check the thousands of SW files when saving or opening large SW assy's, thus saving time. It would also save time when saving to the EPDM network "get latest" and "check in".
Question 1: Is what I'm saying still valid? Should we exclude SW files from real-time AV scanning?
If the answer is "yes" to above, then:
I'm not the admin at my current company, I looked at our AV settings and its set to check all files. The AV program is "locked" down, by the IT dept., hence I can't change any settings. So, I want to open a ticket to get our IT department to exclude SW files from the AV. I need a website I can point my IT department to convince them to exclude SW files. If I just say to do it with no proof they will just laugh at me.
I tried googling it and all I found was websites that said to disable AV while installing SW.
Please help, thank you,
Dan
