An Important Look at PhotoView 360 for SolidWorks 2011 Beta 3

First, thank you again for participating in the SolidWorks 2011 Beta program. I would like to share with you a video showing a significant change that we have made to PhotoView 360 for SolidWorks 2011 that will be available when the Beta 3 version of SolidWorks 2011 comes out. The attached video shows the PhotoView 360 preview taking place in the SolidWorks graphics window as opposed to taking place in a separate floating window. The video was produced by Ron Bates, the manager of the graphical applications development group here at SolidWorks. After reviewing the feedback on the beta forums and also the feedback from the one on one conversations we have had with Beta testers, Ron, Chin-Loo Lama and I decided that it was necessary to release the fully integrated preview window in SolidWorks 2011 Beta 3.

Because this is a relatively significant development, late in the release cycle, the preview window will only be available in Beta 3 using custom registry keys. When Beta 3 is available we will add another post on the discussion forum which will include the files you need to run the PhotoView 360 preview in the SolidWorks 2011 graphics window. Do note that these registry keys will only be necessary for Beta 3, as the goal is to fully release the preview by SP0. We greatly appreciate the efforts you have made so far in testing the Beta version and the feedback you have provided. Note that it was your feedback which prompted us to implement this new PhotoView 360 preview.

Any feedback that you could provide on the new PhotoView 360 preview would be most helpful. As always we are very grateful for those of you that submit beta issues as Beta Service Requests. These are very helpful and are one of the most effective ways to guide the future development of PhotoView 360 and SolidWorks.

Thank you,

Marlon B.
